AGARTALA, March 27 2024: The Congress high command continues to neglect and abandon the state leadership in Tripura, as former left party member Kanhaiya Kumar did not make his expected visit here Wednesday.
A disappointed PCC President Asish Kumar Saha submitted his nomination without the presence of any central leader. Former health minister and MLA Sudip Roy Barman had previously announced Kumar's arrival to join a rally marking the filing of Saha's nomination and to attend a couple of election meetings.
He also mentioned a list of star campaigners in the state, which is still awaiting approval from the AICC(I).
Sources said that the Congress high command did not send Kanhaiya Kumar due to objections from the CPI(M) and CPI, as he had defected from a left party to join the Congress. The CPI(M)'s central leaders have established considerable influence over top Congress leaders, especially after the establishment of the INDI Alliance.
