India’s Largest Logistics Company, Safexpress Pvt Ltd sponsored the 4th North East Business Summit 2008 as the Exclusive Logistics Partner. The Summit was organized by Ministry of Development of the

North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India and Indian Chamber of Commerce on 15 and 16 September 2008 at the Indoor Stadium, National Games Complex, Express Highway, Guwahati, Assam.  

The Summit focused specially on the business relations the North-East region shares with its neighboring countries like Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Cambodia and Laos. The summit explored various facets through which the economic and business relations could be improved with these countries. Safexpress, being regarded as the ‘Knowledge Leader’ of this Industry, was chosen to represent the entire Logistics Industry at the Summit.  

While talking to media, Mr. Vineet Kanaujia, GM - Marketing, Safexpress said that “Today, North-East has become the flavor of the country and many companies from diverse industry segments want to invest here. However, they find it extremely difficult to cope with the rough terrain and relatively demanding conditions of these states. In order to counter and overcome this fear, our company is providing totally secure and express distribution service to various industry segments. Our timely Logistics services will definitely act as a catalyst for investment by many enterprises. We surely want to continue contributing towards and being an integral part of the growth of this region.”  

Special focus in the Summit was given on sectors like IT, Infrastructure, Power, Agro & Food Processing, Tourism, etc. Moreover, the summit also stressed on various aspects like the opportunities presented by North-East, strategies to develop the north eastern region, building international partnerships and issues pertaining to road, Construction, Connectivity, Power, Telecom in North East.

The summit was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Hamid Ansari. Union Minister for DoNER, Hon’ble Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar was the Guest of Honor at the 4th summit to be held on development of North Eastern region. The occasion was also graced by the presence of Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh.

A total of 115 foreign delegates and 12 countries participated in the summit. Some of the countries being Mr. Haji Sidek Ali, High Commissioner, Brunei; Mr. Dato’ Tan Seng Sung, High Commissioner, Malaysia; Lt. Gen (Retd) Andi Muhammad Ghalib, Ambassador, Indonesia; Mr. Ly Bounkham, Ambassador, Laos; Mr. Kyi Thein, Ambassador, Myannmar; Mr. Calvin Eu, High Commissioner, Singapore; Mr. Lyonpo Dago Tshering, Ambassador of Bhutan; Mr. Chirasak Thanesnant, Ambassador, Thailand; Dr. Ahmed Salem Al-Nahishi, Ambassador, Arab League and Dr. Hynek Kmonicek, Ambassador, Czech Republic.
