Slum dwellers get home

Agartala, March 11, 2010: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the first ever housing complex for slum dwellers in the North East region. The Swami Vivekananda Housing Complex built on the model of multistoried apartment to accommodate some 256 families.

It was constructed under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) at a cost of Rs17 crores. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said the top priority of his government is to upgrade the living standard of the slum dwellers to the level of middle income groups.  

Tripura Urban Development Minister Manik Dey, Commissioner Sudip Kr. Roy were among others present on the occasion.
