Journalists to get operational subsidy

Kohima, March 24, 2010 All accredited Journalists of the State Government, who are not employed in Government or public sector media organization, shall receive monthly operational subsidy with effect from March 2010.  

This follows the recent amendment of the Nagaland Accredited Private Journalists Assistance (Operational Subsidy) Scheme 2007 that is being implemented by the Department of Information & Public Relations, Nagaland.  

Director, IPR, stated that the Government has, on 4th March 2010 amended the Scheme to include all Journalists accredited to the state government for receiving the monthly operational subsidy. Accordingly, Journalists with less than 5 (five) years experience as accredited Journalist shall receive Rs. 2000/- P.M while Journalists with more than 5 (five) years experience as accredited Journalists shall receive Rs. 3000/- P.M, he said.  

He also said that the state government has started this scheme with a view to promoting the Journalists' professional commitments to the society. He also said that accreditation means accreditation to the Government of Nagaland.
