SSA teachers in Tripura to observe indefinite hunger strike

Agartala, July 25, 2017: Demanding official notifiction regarding regulalarisation of their services, six thousand contract teachers in Tripura under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) have decided to observe indefinite hunger strike from August 1, 2017. According to the agitating teachers, services of SSA teachers in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur already have regularized. They said even the Centre is ready to give funds for regularisation of the SSA teachers.

It may be noted that large number of SSA teachers held a protest march towards the office of the Directorate of Scholl Education and staged agitation in front of the office on Monday. Later on, the SSA teachers met the Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Kuntal Das and submitted a memorendum.
On receiving the memorendum, Das said that the issue of regularisation of their services would have to be taken at the highest level of government. Hearing this, the SSA teachers have decided to observe indefinite hunger strike.
