Land ready for India – Bangladesh rail project


Agartala, July 29, 2017: West Tripura district administration will hand over land to Northeastern Frontier Railways (NFR) in last part of August to complete construction of ambitious Agartala – Akhaura rail project. 

The district administration has been conducting land acquisition work for past few months.

Officials said 66 acre land was being acquired for purpose of laying rail track on 5-km on Indian side (10 km of total 15-km fall in Bangladesh part).

India’s External Affairs Ministry is bearing cost burden of entire project.

Total 257 land owners have applied for compensation.
