BREAKING: 6 ex Congress turned TMC MLAs to join BJP on August 7

Agartala, August 2, 2017: BJP would have first ever presence in Tripura assembly though by default after formal joining of 6 former TMC MLAs to the saffron party in Agartala on August 7. 

Union Power Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, state BJP President Biplab Kumar Deb, party’s central In-charge Sunil Deodhar and national general secretary Ram Madhav would attend the rally here the legislators and scores of their supporters would switch over to their next political destination.

Only last year this group of MLAs deserted Congress and joined TMC after successfully evading anti defection law. They announced a strong resolution to organise an united fight to beat CPI(M) in February 2018 assembly polls.

 

Himanta Biswa Sharma, who is also Chairman of NDA affiliate Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA), would accompany Tripura legislators in meeting with BJP’s national President Amit Shah. The meeting is slated for 5pm on August 4.
