1 kg gold seized from Bangladesh passenger at Agartala airport

Agartala, August 3, 2017: In a major success the CISF seized gold bars from a Bangladeshi national at the Agartala Airport on Thursday. CISF and Customs Department sources said they have identified the man as Shah Alam, a resident of Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh. 

The detection and detection occurred when the accused was passing through frisking procedures. 40 gold bars weighing 1-kg were recovered from his possession.

Alam was to board a Spice Jet flight to travel to Kolkata where he is believed to have connection with a smuggling racket. Security officials said he arrived in Agartala with a valid passport and visa.

Police and Customs are investigating the case. The accused has been remanded to Airport Police Station.
