The one day meeting attained importance as he joined the meeting after Tripura CPI(M) officially declared to continue with him as Chief Minister if wins assembly election due in February 2018.

With barely six months left for the poll which is expected to be fought fiercely by the communist party and the BJP, Politburo reportedly discussed prospects and problems of party organisation in Tripura. It took stock of activities of IPFT which made a dent in tribal areas with separate state demand for 33 percent tribal population.
