MEA rescues captive Tripura man in Saudi Arabia

Agartala, September 7, 2017: 37 year old Gopal Das reunited with family at Agartala airport on Thursday evening after he returned from Saudi Arabia where he was forcefully detained by his contractor. 

A driver by profession Das narrated ordeal in the oil rich gulf country where he went three years ago to make fortune by an immigration broker who promised a lucrative salary.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) facilitated the return within few days it was approached by Tripura state leadership of BJP to free the man from unlawful captivity in Abha district of Saudi Arabia. BJP took up the effort after Babita Das, wife of stranded driver by profession, visited its office here.

A beaming Gopal Das thanked BJP and the MEA for ensuring his safe return.
