ONGC to conserve monuments in Assam

Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed between National Cultural Fund (NCF)- a trust under Ministry of Culture, Government of India and ONGC to take up various projects for conservation and restoration of art, culture and heritage both tangible and non-tangible. Under tangible culture, the first project proposed to be taken up as part of the MoC is conservation,

renovation and restoration of the monuments of Ahom Kings in and around the operational areas of ONGC in Sibsagar of Assam.

Amresh Singh, Member Secretary, National Culture Fund (NCF) - a trust under Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Dr. A. K. Balyan, Director (HR), ONGC signed the MoC at New Delhi on 18 December.

ONGC and NCF have agreed to jointly collaborate and undertake the Projects for propagation of National heritage and culture as a part of ONGC's efforts towards Corporate Social Responsibility.

ONGC will fund and collaborate with Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) - the expert agency, for the conservation and development of Ranghar Ruins, Karenghar, Garhgaon and group of maidams at Charaideo in Sibsagar in the first instance.  December 19, 2009
