Many injured in CPI(M) and BJP clash

Agartala, October 27, 2017: Around 15 people were injured, some critically, in police baton charge and fight between supporters of CPI(M) and BJP in Dharmanagar town in north Tripura on Friday afternoon. The rival political parties clashed after tension escalated at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) with Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and CITU logging head over selection of transport routes. 

The BMS called 12 hour general strike from 6 a.m. tomorrow in Dharmanagar, headquarters of the North Tripura District, to protest ‘unprovoked attacks’ on BMS and BJP supporters. BJP which condemned spate of attacks on party ranks in the state extended support to the bandh call.

Two women passengers and a journalist Ayon Bhowmik were wounded as ISBT turned into a battle field. Bhowmik who is working for a local television channel ‘Tripura Vision’ sustained injuries in his head and legs.
