Awareness programme for rubber growers

Agartala, November 3, 2017: National Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited in association with Rubber Board, Agartala will be conducting an Awareness Programme for the Rubber Growers of Tripura at Nucleus Rubber Estate & Training Centre in Agartala on November 6.

The program is meant for creating awareness among the RPS Office Bearers/Growers, as to, how the Exchange mechanism can be used for better price discovery and hedging. The Exchange will share its Kerala experience where Farmers, Traders and Co-operatives have been benefitted from hedging through NMCE.

The farmers need protection against the vagaries of price in the market, which they can get through hedging mechanism. While large farmers can directly participate on Exchange Platform, the smaller farmers can participate through their Rubber Producing Societies, which act as aggregators for them.

The programme will highlight how the Exchange mechanism can be best used by the Rubber Growers though their Rubber Producing Socialites.

The program will be attended by RPS Office Bearers/Growers, Rubber Board officials, Banks & CWC Officials and Traders so that the farmers get the inputs from all the sections of the stakeholders at one platform. Therefore the program will also highlight the benefit for Exchange mechanism to traders and consumers of the product without loss to farmers.

Using Exchange mechanism for price discovery and price risk management is a win-win situation to all the stakeholders, a press release from the National Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited, has stated.
