Indo Bangla joint military exercise next week

Agartala, November 4, 2017: Military contingents of India and Bangladesh would carry out joint training exercise called SAMPRITI at two different locations in northeast India. The exercise is divided in two district components Command Post Exercise (CPX) and Field Training Exercises (FTX), a defence statement said.

CPX is to be conducted from November 6 to 11 at Joint Training Node in Meghalaya’s Umroi while internationally famed Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School at Vairengte in Mizoram will host FTX from November 6 to 18.

SAMPRITI is held alternatively in India and Bangladesh every year. The statement said purpose of the exercise is to build and promote positive relations between armies of two neighbouring countries.

“It also aims to enhance interoperability between the two nations and enrich from each other’s experience while carrying out Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorist operations”, it added.

The statement informed 20 officers each from both the Armies will participate in CPX as part of Brigade & Battalion Command Posts. FTX would include participation of one Infantry company each from the Bangladesh Army and elite Red Horns Division of the Indian Army.
