Agartala, November 24, 2017: A 3 member delegation of BJP headed by party’s national spokesperson and MP Meenakshi Lekhi held a meeting with full bench of the Election Commission of India at New Delhi on Friday to place certain demands important of which was sealing off Tripura’s international border much ahead of assembly elections slated for February 2018.

The team also demanded extensive revision of electoral rolls before the poll to ensure the lists do not contain fake or bogus voters.  It argued that last such revision was made in 2004 and henceforth only summery revisions were conducted.

“CPI(M) is used to manipulate and rig elections in Tripura through various means mainly false franchise. This needs to be stopped with extensive revision exercise”, said BJP state leader Dr Ashok Sinha who was part of the delegation.

BJP state in-charge Sunil Deodhar was the other member of the team. They requested commission to make use of local media – print and electronic – while advertising election related information on Tripura.
