ONGC organises Walkathon

Agartala, October 24, 2010: A 'Walkathon', (Walking-Marathon) was organized by ONGC on Sunday 0700hrs for a 'Greener Planet and Greener Future', through out India, in all ONGC Workcentres, as part of 'Petrotech - An International Oil & Gas Conference' to be held at New Delhi from October 31 to November 3 2010.

The 'Walkathon', a first time initiative towards greener future, as part of 'Petrotech 2010' pre-conference event, was organized by ONGC Tripura Asset too at Agartala 'Walk for the future, Walk for the Earth - Save Energy, Save Money, Save Health', for a 'Greener Planet and Greener Future'. The main event (Walkathon) was held at New Delhi on October 24, 2010 from 0700hrs from Rajpath to Pragati Maidan.   

The Walkathon was flagged off by V K Jain, ED-Asset Manager, ONGC Tripura Asset. About 400 participants - school children of ONGC KV and other schools of the city, teachers and staff of ONGC KV, ONGCians and their family members, members of ONGC Mahila Samiti and people from adjacent area participated in the Walkathon.   

The walk marched ahead amidst chanting of slogans on the way to Conserve Energy, Preserve Environment, Save Fuel, Save Money and Save Health. The Walkathon was cheered all along by people in large numbers. A number of media personnel, representing various media organizations of the State - print, electronic and web also participated in the Walk.    

Congratulating the participants for making the Walkathon successful, V K Jain said that organizations like ONGC, which is responsible for producing scarce resources like hydrocarbon must also propagate the critical need of its conservation.
