Election Commission to observe diamond jubilee

Agartala, October 26, 2010: The Election Commission of India is to organise various programmes in northeast India as part of its diamond jubilee celebration. The commission in collaboration with the Directorate of Advertisement & Visual Publicity (DAVP) would organise photo exhibition and film shows in state capitals of the region to mark the occasion.  

The EC through it's the office in Tripura would organise the photo exhibition and documentary film show titled 'Indian Elections - a Mammoth Exercise' in state capital Agartala from October 27 to 29. Tripura Chief Secretary S.K. Panda will inaugurate the photo exhibition and the film show at Nazrul Kala Khestra.  

The shows will be opened everyday at 3PM and will be screened continuously till 8PM.  

Election Commission sources said the shows are organised to highlight the election process of India during last 60 years and create awareness to increase the registration of voters. They are also aimed to spread the message of 'Greater Participation for a Stronger Democracy' and enhance the quality of Indian democracy.
