Dr Dipu Moni seeks Indian investment

Agartala, November 10, 2010: Bangladesh foreign minister Dr Dipu Moni has called upon Indian entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh especially in power sector as she underscored need for united crush terrorism. Speaking at a meet organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala she emphasised on need of a united fight to eradicate terrorism which is global issue.  

Stating that her country resolves to work out a strong tie with India, the foreign minister said there were frustrating people on both countries who fail to understand essence and necessities of good neighbourly relations beneficial for both sides.  

“Present (Awami League) government is determined to create a good tie with the neighbours and we want others to reciprocate”, she stated while conceding the relations unexpectedly witnessed different shades in past 40 years.  

Dr Moni said Bangladesh is ready to provide facilities of two major ports Chottogram and Mongla for neighbouring countries on basis of mutual cooperation. She wanted Indian businessmen invest in Bangladesh especially in fragile power sector.  

Dr Mani who is leading over fifty member delegation comprising officials and trade leaders was accorded civic reception by the Agartala municipal council in the evening.
