Tripura finally implements 7th pay commission

Agartala, October 9, 2018: Ending rumours and confusion, Tripura government on Tuesday finally announced implementation of benefits of 7th Pay Commission for the employees and pensioners.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced the decision adopted in meeting of council of ministers at a crowded press conference in civil secretariat. Four senior ministers Jishnu Debbarma, Narendra Chandra Debbarma, Ratan Lal Nath and Sudip Roy Barman were present.

The implementation would significantly increase pay etc for about 5 lakh employees from all streams. The state government has to incur an additional burden of Rs 700 crore every month for the spike.

Chief Minister said pensioners and those in contractual structure would also be benefited.

7th Pay Commission was promised in BJP’s Vision Document vis a vis manifesto released ahead of assembly elections held in February 2018. Union Minister Arun Jaitley fest announced the decision.
