Tripura's Somdev wins Gold at Asiad

November 23, 2010: Fourth seed Somdev Debbarman from Tripura state in India's northeast scripted history, when he became the first Indian to win gold at the Asian Games, beating top seed Denis Istomin 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the gold medal in Guangzhou Tuesday.

This takes India's gold haul to seven. Somdev had also bagged the doubles gold with Sanam Singh yesterday.  

This is Somdev's second gold medal in the Asian Games. Devvarman had also won Gold Medal at the recent Commonwealth Games held in Delhi.
