ONGC supports 5th Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet


Agartala, March 15, 2019: ONGC is organising the 5th Tripura Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet in association with the NGO Kwtal Langma Bodol from March16 to 17 at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan. The meet will showcase the costumes and dance forms of all the 19 tribes from the 8 districts of the state. The meet is open to the public on both days.

The two days celebrations this year will be glazed with the presence of two personalities of national repute on each day; on the inaugural day, it will hold Profk Dr. VL Dharurkar, Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, Agartala and the second day of the Meet will see the presence of Chief Justice of Agartala High Court Sanjay Karol as the Chief Guest.

The meet will showcase the various traditional dance forms of the state such as Hojagiri, Gria, Lebang Bumani and Mamita which today have gained popularity outside the state as well.

Ed - Asset Manager, ONGC GK Singha Roy said that the aim of such meet is to promote, preserve and encourage the rich traditional culture of the tribal communities of Tripura. He said that ONGC regularly supports various initiatives to preserve indigenous culture under CSR and this initiative will provide a platform to the local performers of the state to hone their skills.

The annual Tripura Tribal Cultural Heritage Meet, supported by ONGC is immensely popular among people of the state.
