NE India International Meet at Guwahati

The two-day North East India International Meet (NEIIM-2010) will bring together young professionals of the State who have excelled in their respective careers and presently settled across the globe to share their experience and knowledge with the youth of the region.

The event slated on January 11 from 10.50 am is expected to be a platform for the young men and women of the region to get their queries regarding job opportunities, conventional as well as trail-blazing, answered by the professionals. Assam state Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will inaugurate the meet.

“In today's cut throat competition, most of the students and youths have found themselves at the crossroads at various stages of their lives when they have had to step up and decide which path to take,” said Bidyananda Barkakoty, general secretary of the organising committee of the meet.

Barkakoty added that the special programme for the youth during the meet will be a window to the world of different job opportunities that is still unknown to a large section of young people here.

“The non-residents having roots in Assam and North East can help and guide the students and youths in various ways,” said These people come from diverse backgrounds - engineering and science, design, astrophysics, economics, anthropology, public policy, medical and multidisciplinary streams. There are also individuals who have contributed in unique ways; espousing the cause of disadvantaged people and creating meaningful impact on the community at large.

The speakers who have confirmed their participation are Ankur Bora who is currently working at Microsoft, Dallas, Texas, USA. Bora is the vice president of Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters, USA Chapter and general secretary of Assam Foundation of North America, Bikram M Baruah who is currently working as a consulting reservoir engineer based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. His main research is in the area of integrated reservoir modeling with specialty in integrating dynamic data into static model and initialisation of dynamic model.

He is the founder of XOBDO (www.xobdo.org). Baruah will give a presentation on “Job Opportunities in the Arabian Gulf”.
