“…help me”, BJP leader cries after attack

AGARTALA, April 19, 2019: The sour relation between BJP and its coalition partner IPFT reached to its all time low after BJP state vice president Rampada Jamatia faced a sudden attack by an unruly mob on Friday. The leader, also an MLA, was canvassing for party nominee in east Tripura constituency when his convoy carrying party supporters when the incident occurred at Taidu area in south Tripura.
All three vehicles were badly damaged in the attack and some BJP workers received injuries. Under attack, Jamatia sent WhatsApp text to top leader of party seeking help.
He said he and supporters were under attack and sought help. Security reinforcements reached to the spot and brought situation under control.
Rampada Jamatia blamed IPFT ‘goons’ for the incident. Police registered a case.
IPFT was blamed for yesterday’s stone pelting incident targeting congress candidate in the constituency in Khowai area yesterday. Police arrested one person in connection with the attack.
