May
not be her debut album which went up the Asian gospel chart. But
it has still been a great success for Liandingpuii a young Mizo
artist to be the first from the North East to climb the ladder
in the South East Asian chart.
The
album "Safe in You" is now third bestseller of gospel
albums in the South East Asian Chart. Having sold more than any
other local artistes album added together in Mizoram.
Born in Aizawl and spent all her childhood without discovering
her talent, and even dreamed of being a Psychiatrist, Dingpuii
discovered her talent only at the age of twelve when she was
forced to perform in school for the Parents' day function in
1994.
Her
zeal then never ever stopped. She came out with her debut album
in vernacular "Thiamchanna Kraws" came as one of the
best seller in Mizoram in 2001 selling way across the forty
thousand mark. Her second album again in vernacular "Siamthar
Lehna" in 2003 left her first album way behind in sales.
Then the boost came when she released her first Christmas Album
last year leaving the rest of her album to wee to count in
sales.
The
Big Boom came this year when the "Omega Music India"
which is now in collaboration with Authentic media division of
STL, UK and US took over her first English album "Safe in
You". Analyst says that the album sales is much more than
expected, and is keeping on the rise every week. Dingpuii has
received many awards including Best Gospel singer in the Mizoram
for a couple of years, where singing is a tradition and almost
90 percent of the youth plays guitar.
"Singing
might not have been my career if not of the blessing from God
and the support of my family" Dingpuii said. "It has
been a hard struggle, but now really am happy to see a bright
future, and I give all the credit to God" she added.
"We
are expecting a child next year by May", said Frankie,
Dingpuii's husband. "I do not really care about the gender
of the child but all I hope is that the baby will follow the
mother's foot steps", he added. Pointing out their family
life, Frankie said, "Although I am a very busy businessman
I give all my spare time to my beloved wife and hope with the
help of God our family will remain the same, as we are very
happy now". Although married this year, she had not been
kept in the house like many other Indian women. She has gone to
many places and even as far as United States, not to forget her
visit to Myanmar. (November 2006) |
