Canvases,
Oil Colours, Acrylic paints, Pastels, Splashes of Colours,
Landscapes, Abstracts, Strange Images, Chisels, Hammers, Carving
Tools, Wood Logs,
Painters and Sculptors from all over India.
And
vow!! Mozart, Beethoven and Sachin Dev Barman’s eternal music.
All this was at a week long National Art Festival in Agartala,
January 17 and 23 2007.
Art students, professional artist, art lovers, journalists and
people who care for art and culture flocked to witness this
wonderful event. This was a unique opportunity to observe
artists with different vision working in different styles on
different themes.
Being
a professional artist working in
Delhi
, I had an opportunity to participate in this festival.
Each
artist was to paint or sculpt two works of art. I choose to work
on acrylics. The theme of my paintings was architectural motifs
in contemporary way.
Temples
, village house, Havelis, palaces and castles were drawn in a
simplified manner with vibrant colours and rich textures.
This is how my work can be described.
Events
like this festival are today’s necessity. Interaction between
artists, students, art lovers and other people keep the
nation’s heart functioning in a healthy way.
Let
us hope that there will be a lot more events like this in the
future too.
