Diamond price for a pair of eagle eye!

The pair of an eagle eye can fetch you cash worth thousands of rupees. This tale has forced people in remote villages of India’s northeastern Meghalaya state’s Garo Hills district, to kill this endangered species.


The tale has lured the people so much that the villagers in on a rampage for an eagle eye. There are no reports as to how many of this bird have been sold. But report suggests that for a long time this are prevailing in these areas.

 

 The Indian eagle owl inhabits in the deep forests of Garo Hills. This is locally known as Hudu hudu or Do·oldu. Local conservationist in Williamnagar feels that some local businessmen are involved in this trade. The bird in the picture was caught by a hunter from Baija village near Williamnagar. This hunter is waiting for a prospective buyer who is ready to give him a price worth diamond.

 Meanwhile conscious locals in this region have raised a serious concern and have urged the authorities to take measures to prevent the hunting of this rare and endangered species.
