Governor Joshi Speaks on Projecting and Marketing Meghalaya

The State with its rich natural resources and abundance beauty has got a huge potential in development of Agriculture, Horticulture and Tourism. This is perhaps a know fact for the policy makers in State. But why we have failed to trap this.

For militancy, the Governor B L Joshi had to say No! No! "Meghalaya and North East in general are as peaceful as any other States in India". Then how do we justify this? "Packaging and presenting Meghalaya to the outside", is an ingredient what Governor had to say.

Projecting and marketing the potential of the State for possible investors in infrastructure development, tourism and agro based industries is a good idea. The Governor who is confident on this line shares on the industrial policy, where you invest only 20 per cent rest is institutionally financed and above all get back from the State a share of 30 per cent.

If this is the case why we have failed?

"Projection and Marketing, is what I feel". Governor B L Joshi stressed. "We need to select, everything is here, people are simple and good, resources are there…so!" Making procedures simple and easy is another option, which will attract private investors the Governor feels as he said, "We have to make people feel comfortable".

On the shortage of power in State, Governor had to say that this was an opportunity for the private investors to come. He wonders, "Why things are hooked to governance?"

The State tugged with resources will wake up to its opportunity only when economic development is there. In this line Governor feels that university, media and NGOs has to play a bigger role. On NGOs he said, "They have to be people's organisation".

Media has to be pro active and play a positive role is creating right attitude and in projecting the State. Is what Governor had to say as the candid chat ended?
