NEW  GOVERNOR   VISITS   WAR   CEMETERY

 

The new Governor of Nagaland Sankaranarayanan paid a visit to the Kohima war cemetery and paid homage to the allied soldiers who had given their lives to stop the advance of the Japanese invasion in the famous battle of Kohima during World War II. The Governor laid a wreath at the war memorial as a mark of respect and wrote his comments in the visitors register. He was received by the Caretaker of the Memorial and senior officers of the Assam Rifles who took him round the memorial and highlighted the significance and events of the Battle of Kohima.   Feb 2007
