Cadets from states of the NE showcased discipline and dedication

REGIONAL, May 06, 2024: The NCC Group Headquarters in Shillong recently hosted a prestigious Guard of Honour Competition, showcasing the discipline and dedication of cadets from the seven sister states of the North East. The event, held from May 4 to 5 2024 saw an impressive turnout of 39 teams, reflecting the enthusiasm and commitment of the NCC units.
It was a testament to the skills and hard work of the cadets from all three services - Army, Navy, and Air Force - as they competed with zeal and demonstrated their best performances. On May 6 a ceremony was held at David Hall, APS Shillong, where Major General Gagan Deep, ADG of NCC NER, honored the winners. The Guard of Honour team from 2 Meghalaya Battalion NCC achieved a commendable third place among the 39 competing teams.
Major General Gagan Deep commended the cadets for their contributions to nation-building, emphasising the values of character, comradeship, and selfless service. He highlighted the role of the NCC in fostering a dynamic and disciplined youth cadre in the North East, who have been making remarkable contributions in various spheres of life.
The winning teams will now have the opportunity to join the NCC Republic Day Contingent, a prestigious opportunity that comes with the challenge of undergoing rigorous training to deliver an impeccable performance. The felicitation event concluded with a vibrant rendition of the NCC song, symbolising the spirit and unity of the cadets, followed by a tea session that allowed for personal interactions, further strengthening the bonds within the NCC community.
In his address to the cadets, Maj Gen Gagan Deep praised the contribution of the NCC cadets from the North East to nation-building by instilling character, comradeship, and the spirit of selfless service. He also noted that over the years, the NCC in the North East has created a truly vibrant and diverse cadre of motivated and disciplined youth who are excelling in various fields.
