Third Vice President to resign mid-term in India

NATIONAL, July 21, 2025: Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned citing medical reasons Monday. He said that he would follow medical advice.
Dhankhar, 74, who took office in August 2022 and was set to serve until 2027, became the third vice president to resign mid-term.
Other notable resignations include VV Giri in 1969 and Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in 2007 after being defeated in the presidential election.
Dhankhar's resignation was sent for the President's acceptance.
