ICT verdict: Deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed capital punishment on several counts. (2:25pm IST)
Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was also awarded death sentence for charges under crimes against humanity.
Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal’s (ICT) announced the verdict against deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and two others allegedly accused of committing crimes against humanity. Tribunal chair Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mazumdar will pronounce quantum of punishment shortly. 
Complete verdict contains about 453 pages, reports.
Protesters, mostly students, arrived at Dhanmandi area of Dhaka to demolish ruins of the residence of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Television images show army and security forces are trying to prevent them.
This would be third assault on the residence of Bangladesh’s founding father since August 05, 2024.
