
KOHIMA: The Nagaland Police 1st Inter-School Sports Festival 2026 concluded on Saturday with a ceremonial event at the Chumoukedima Football Stadium attended by prominent figures including the Director General of Police, Nagaland Rupin Sharma who served as the Guest of Honour and Advisor to the Chief Minister Abu Metha acting as the Special Guest along with other dignitaries.
In his speech, Advisor Metha extended his congratulations to both the DGP and the Nagaland Police for their successful organization of this inaugural event, highlighting its historic significance more than sixty years into Nagaland's statehood.
Metha expressed the sentiment that every student participating in the state-level championship should view themselves as a winner, underscoring the meaningful nature of this festival as a landmark initiative for future sports events. DGP Rupin Sharma acknowledged the active involvement of students, principals and parents from Nagaland Police Schools, reinforcing the value of sports in providing enriching learning experiences and fostering interaction among students.
The event was presided over by Bendangchuba, Convenor of the Organizing Committee and the final remarks were made by K Edward Ngullie, the Organising Secretary, followed by a benediction from Rev Tiatoshi Lkr, Executive Secretary of NPBCA.
In terms of competition results, Nagaland Police Central School, 1st NAP Battalion, was declared the Overall Champion, with Regimental School, 4th NAP Battalion from Thizama, being the Runner-up. The festival featured a variety of competitive events, including Rhymes, Tunnel Ball, a 100-metre sprint, relay races, futsal, long jump, high jump, penalty shoot-out, and volleyball. Participating institutions ranged from various police schools to units across the Nagaland Police Force, highlighting widespread involvement and community engagement in this sports initiative.
