AGARTALA, July 14, 2025: The body of Sneha Debnath, a missing student from Tripura, has been found in the Yamuna River in Delhi Sunday evening. “This is a tragic and heartbreaking incident”, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha was quoted as saying.
The Chief Minister's Office played an active role in expediting the investigation with the cooperation of the Delhi Police administration leading to the identification and recovery of the body. Initial investigations suggest that the college student took her own life by jumping into the river.
However a thorough probe is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident. The Chief Minister has expressed his sorrow and offered his condolences to the family.
He has also directed New Delhi based Tripura Bhavan officials to extend necessary assistance to the bereaved family.
Sneha Debnath was missing since July 7 after leaving her home in Delhi. She reportedly left a suicide note.
