CM highlights rich culture, tradition and heritage of Janajatis
Said centre is helping to transform Tripura into a progressive state

AGARTALA, December 08, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha highlighted the rich culture, tradition and heritage of the Janajati community attributing the state government's initiatives to preserve and promote these traditions.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the inaugural session of the 20th State-Level Wangala Festival at Udaipur, Gomati district Monday. He noted that Tripura is home to 19 out of nearly 700 Janajati groups in India and each has a unique legacy.
Dr Saha further outlined the government's efforts towards education, infrastructure, healthcare and water supply, aiming to transform Tripura into a progressive state in collaboration with the Central government.
He also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's declaration of January 15 as Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas to honour India’s freedom hero Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The Wangala Festival is the principal celebration for the Garo community, building cultural connections among various ethnic groups. The event saw attendance from dignitaries including Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
