GLOBAL, October 18, 2025: A devastating fire forced the closure of the international airport in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka and caused damage to a facility Saturday. The fire broke out in the import cargo complex airport.
The country has recently been witnessing major fire incidents in different places, inviting public concern.
The interim government in Bangladesh has ordered a multi-agency investigation into the massive fire incident at the Cargo Station inside the airport premises. The airport was closed due to the blaze with approaching flights diverted to different airports.
No casualties were reported in the airport fire incident, but it destroyed shipments worth millions in the import cargo complex. The fire was doused after seven hours of efforts by the fire fighters.
The government said it would take stern action if any dependable evidence of sabotage or arson is found.
