Education Ministry’s Secretary Sanjay Kumar visits NERIE

Spoke on teacher capacity building and infrastructure development

REGIONAL, July 14, 2025: Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education and Prof Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director of NCERT, visited the North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) in Shillong.

They were accompanied by Prof Flourette G Dkhar, Incharge Principal, NERIE and Swapnil Tambe, Secretary of the Department of Education, Meghalaya. The visit highlighted the importance of NERIE's contributions to teacher capacity building and infrastructure development as well as the government's proposed initiatives to improve education quality.

Prof Saklani highlighted the need to expand NERIE's infrastructural facilities to meet the growing educational demands of the region. He also emphasized the importance of education in shaping students into critical thinkers and urged the institute to increase its Bed intake and initiate the Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP).
