Ex PM's grandson Prajwal Revanna sentenced to life

Was convicted in one of four sexual abuse and rape cases

NATIONAL, August 02, 2025: Former MP and suspended Janata Dal-Secular leader Prajwal Revanna has been sentenced to life imprisonment in a rape case in Bengaluru Saturday. The 34-year-old grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda was convicted in one of four sexual abuse and rape cases against him and a total fine of Rs 10 lakh was imposed on the accused.

The case relates to a 48-year-old woman who was allegedly raped twice in 2021. Revanna, who is a BE Mechanical graduate, sought leniency, claiming he did nothing wrong and that his only mistake was his growth in politics.

He appealed to the judge of the special court for a lesser punishment stating that he had a family and had not seen his parents for six months.
