EAM highlights imperative for global zero tolerance towards terrorism

NATIONAL, November 18, 2025: India Tuesday vehemently stressed the right to defend its citizens against terrorism as articulated by External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting held in Moscow.
Dr Jaishankar highlighted the imperative for global zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its manifestations and forms. He noted that terrorism, separatism and extremism escalated in recent years, asserting there can be no justification for these threats nor can they be ignored or downplayed.
The Minister also stressed the importance of humanitarian cooperation particularly in the face of contemporary challenges such as climate change, pandemics and global conflicts. Dr Jaishankar pointed out that, as a civilizational state, India values people-to-people exchanges as foundational to authentic relationships.
Furthermore, he conveyed India's readiness to share its extensive expertise in heritage conservation with Southeast Asia to the Central Asian region. Lastly, he argued that the SCO must evolve in response to the shifting global landscape advocating for an expanded agenda and reform in its operational methodologies.
