India's tourist hub Goa celebrates its 64th Liberation Day
President, PM and Home Minister hailed liberation, greeted people

NATIONAL, December 19, 2025: Goa, a former Portuguese colony and now a prominent tourist destination in India celebrated its 64th Liberation Day Friday. President Droupadi Murmu praised the freedom fighters for their steadfast dedication and urged the nation to remember their sacrifices in liberating Goa from colonial rule wishing the region a prosperous future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the courageous spirit of those who fought against injustice stating their sacrifices motivate ongoing efforts for Goa's development and marking the day as significant in India’s history.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed greetings to the people of Goa, honouring historical for their sacrifices. He noted that prior to 1961 Indians needed special permission to visit Goa that has since become a vital part of India due to these heroes' enduring struggles.
