PM announces plans to become Atmanirbhar in energy sector

He concluded visit in northeast after opening multi-crore projects

REGIONAL, September 14, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday announced aspirations to become Atmanirbhar in the energy sector and reduce dependence on foreign fuels. He was speaking after inaugurating India's first bamboo-based bio-refinery in Golaghat district in Assam aiming to harness deep-water energy resources and strengthen energy self-reliance.

Modi also laid the foundation stone for a polypropylene unit, and for Darrang Medical College, Nursing College, and GNM School in Darrang district. Prime Minister also launched the construction of a new bridge over the Brahmaputra River, connecting Guwahati's Narengi and Darrang's Kuruwa and the Guwahati Ring Road project.

He departed for Kolkata from Jorhat Airport after concluding his engagements in Assam.
