Prafulla Govinda Baruah passes away aged 93, PM condoles
He was the editor of northeast’s major The Assam Tribune

NATIONAL, December 15, 2025: The Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and Assam Chief Minister joined hundreds to express grief over the demise of Prafulla Govinda Baruah, one of the tallest news media figures in northeast India.
He died Sunday night due to age-related illness, family said.
The 93-year-old was the editor and owner of The Assam Tribune, which was founded decades ago by his late father.
Press clubs of the region and media paid tribute to the dozens of journalists. PG Baruah is survived by his wife and two daughters.
