To prevent high-intensity sounds that could scare migratory birds

REGIONAL, November 03, 2025: In an effort to protect Amur Falcons, the Nagaland government reaffirmed its title as the Falcon Capital of the World, citing the significant congregation of these birds in Pangti Village during October and November.
The public order from Additional Deputy Commissioner of Wokha district, Renbomo Ezung, highlights the necessity of ensuring safe migratory pathways for these protected birds, in accordance with the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the Convention on Migratory Species.
To minimize disturbances, a temporary 'Silence Zone' has been established within a 3-kilometer radius of the roosting site to prevent high-intensity sounds that could scare these birds and disrupt their essential communication for reproduction and survival.
The order warns that financial aid to villages involved in harming the Amur Falcons will be reconsidered. Consequently, all activities that may disturb the falcons in the area are now prohibited.
The district administration calls upon citizens, communities and visitors to actively participate in the conservation of this ecological event and to maintain Nagaland's global reputation for wildlife conservation.
