REGIONAL, October 31, 2025: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for the successful implementation of the National eVidhan Application (NeVA).
The recognition was conferred during the 3rd National Conference on National eVidhan Application (NeVA) held on October 30 at the Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.
A delegation led by Dr Andrew Simons, Commissioner & Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, attended the conference and received the award on behalf of the Assembly.
The National eVidhan Application (NeVA) is a transformative initiative under the Digital India Programme, aimed at transitioning legislative assemblies across the country to a paperless, digital system. The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has been among the leading institutions in adopting and implementing this initiative effectively.
Through NeVA, members can access legislative business—such as questions, notices, rules of procedure, and list of business—digitally on their tablets and devices. The platform facilitates real-time information exchange between the Assembly and various government departments, thereby enhancing transparency, efficiency and accessibility in legislative functioning.
By moving towards a paperless workflow, NeVA has significantly contributed to reducing paper consumption, aligning with sustainable governance practices. The system also provides members the flexibility to submit questions, notices, and other official inputs remotely, improving overall responsiveness.
To ensure seamless implementation, the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has conducted regular training sessions for Members of the House, equipping them to fully utilise the digital tools and resources available through NeVA.
This recognition underscores the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and environmental responsibility through the adoption of digital governance practices.
