Governor visits 94-years-old stalwart SC Jamir
REGIONAL: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited former Chief Minister Dr SC Jamir at his residence in Chumoukedima. Dr Jamir, who is 94 years old, is one of the most respected political figures in Northeast India having served as the Chief Minister of Nagaland five times during the years 1980, 1982-1986, 1989-1990 and 1993-2003.
Throughout his career, he has played a significant role in Naga politics and has also held the position of Governor in various states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Odisha. Dr Jamir was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2020 for his contributions.
During meeting, the Governor and his host engaged in a cordial discussion, exchanging views on various topics, while Dr SC Jamir has been noted for his efforts towards restoration of lasting peace and development in the area.
