NATIONAL: Fresh clashes erupted between Bodos and Adivasis in Kokrajhar, Assam, following violence that resulted in two deaths linked to a youth's brutal killing. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed and internet services were suspended Tuesday to check escalation.
The deceased were identified as Sikhna Jwhwlao Bismit and Sunil Murmu. Bismit was reportedly beaten to death during a clash, while Murmu died from subsequent injuries during protests. Public outrage led to road blockages on the Karigaon stretch of National Highway as protesters demonstrated that resulted in mobs setting fire to temporary camps of the Birsa Commando Force damaging properties and vandalising the Sidu Kanhu Bhawan.
Numerous shops were also burned, heightening concerns of further violence in the area, which remains heavily policed.
