HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy highlighted that the Musi Rejuvenation Project is designed to secure the future of Hyderabad without causing harm to its residents particularly the underprivileged. During the #MusiInvites conference for Musi Rejuvenation Phase-1 Friday, he asserted that the initiative does not aim to displace anyone or confiscate property but seeks to elevate Hyderabad to a world-class status.

The government has identified around 10,000 impoverished families residing along the Musi River and is arranging for double-bedroom houses in nearby areas to ensure their livelihoods are preserved. Drawing comparisons with global riverfront developments such as those in the River Thames, Hudson River, Singapore, Seoul, Dubai and Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront, he stressed the necessity for Hyderabad to adopt a long-term vision for growth.

Chief Minister addressed the circulating misinformation concerning project costs, clarifying that the Gandhi statue will cost approximately ₹75 crore, while the entire Musi Riverfront project is projected to be valued between ₹6,500 and ₹7,000 crore. Recalling the devastating 1908 Musi floods that led to the establishment of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar for city protection, he highlighted the significance of preparing for Hyderabad's population increase from 1.34 crore to nearly 2.5 crore within the next 25 years.

The project aims not only to restore the river but also to enhance tourism, foster a lively night economy and create job opportunities. The Chief Minister encouraged public representatives, experts and residents to contribute constructive feedback and support the vision for a future-ready Hyderabad.
