Workshop on PMNAPS for ITI Trainees in Ambassa

AMBASSA: Tripura hosted a comprehensive day-long workshop on the Prime Minister’s National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS) in a move to bridge the gap between vocational training and industrial employment.

Held at Panchayat Raj Training Institute in Ambassa, the initiative was organised with the support of the Directorate of Skill Development (DSD) under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). It witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over a hundred attendees, including students and instructors from various trades of Govt ITI Ambassa & Govt ITI Kamalpur.

The primary objective of the workshop was to demystify the apprenticeship process and highlight the enhanced benefits now available under the PM-NAPS framework. By bringing together trainees and industry experts, the program sought to create a roadmap for seamless transition from the classroom to the real industry.
The workshop featured a distinguished panel of resource persons who shared practical insights into the evolving landscape of industrial training: Kartik Patari, Principal of ITI Ambassa, Muhammad Salauddin Kazi  Sr Instructor, ITI Kamalpur, Subal Debbarma Sr Instructor.

The event was expertly orchestrated by Kamaiah Engineering Services Pvt Ltd, Guwahati ensuring a productive and high-energy environment at Panchayat Raj Training Institute, Ambassa. 

Beyond the execution of workshops, Kamaiah Engineering Services Private Limited proactively manages the intricate engagement between students from various academic institutions and establishments across diverse sectors. The company serves as a vital intermediary, ensuring that the specific needs of both talent and industry are met with precision. Furthermore, the organization specializes in the end-to-end administration of contract generation under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), streamlining the legal and operational frameworks necessary to formalize these professional relationships and ensure compliance with national standards.

Bebek Prasad Sah (Jr Manager) from Kamaiah Engineering Services Pvt Ltd Assam delivered a detailed technical presentation on the scheme’s implementation specifically focused on the financial incentives for employers and the stipend support for trainees, emphasising how the scheme has been streamlined to offer better facilities than ever before. The session highlighted how engaging apprentices helps businesses achieve statutory workforce compliance and ease of doing business while building a skilled talent pool.

For industries, the scheme offers tangible incentives and significant social impact by fostering local employment. For the youth, the program provides industry-oriented training, exposure to modern technology, and recognized certifications that enhance career prospects.

Notably, a special intervention initiative for the North Eastern Region was announced that candidates from the North East undergoing apprenticeship—either within or outside the region—will receive ₹1,500 in partial stipend support via DBT under PM-NAPS.

The workshop concluded with a roadmap for effective implementation, urging local industries to register and take advantage of these central government incentives.
