THE Grand Finale of Sur Sangam – Tea Garden Student Talent Hunt took place in Guwahati, celebrating the musical capabilities of students from tea garden communities throughout Assam. This initiative, a collaboration between The Hans Foundation and the Assam government's Department of Secondary Education, featured lively performances from the Top 16 finalists showcasing their skills honed through extensive training and evaluation in tea garden regions such as Sonitpur, Tinsukia, and Dibrugarh.

The event, held at the Sri Sri Damodardev International Auditorium, was honored by the presence of Dr. Ranoj Pegu, the Education Minister of Assam, as the Chief Guest and Padma Shri awardee Suresh Wadkar, who served as the Guest of Honour alongside other notable figures, including Padma Wadkar and filmmaker Bharat Bala Ganapathy. Dr. Pegu emphasized the government's commitment to providing opportunities for students from marginalized communities to nurture their talents in a holistic educational framework.

Suresh Wadkar expressed admiration for the initiative and the performers, highlighting their sincerity and musical artistry. He expressed enthusiasm for welcoming the winners into his music academy in Mumbai to further their musical pursuits. Prior to the finale, an expert jury consisting of notable figures evaluated the contestants based on musicality, vocal technique, expression, originality and stage presence, culminating in the selection of the winners.

Gyno Munda from Sonajuli TE Model School emerged as the overall winner, with Anmol Kumar from Chandmari TE Model School and Gojendra Gowala from Deodham TE Model School taking the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. Consolation awards were given to several other participants for their impressive performances, underscoring the high level of talent present in the competition.

The top six winners of Sur Sangam will receive scholarships up to the post-graduate level and mentorship at Suresh Wadkar’s academy, along with certificates and honors. Sur Sangam is a key aspect of The Hans Foundation's Uttam Xikhya programme, aimed at integrating structured music education into the school curriculum, significantly impacting the confidence and overall development of the participating students. Shweta Rawat, the Founder and Chairperson of The Hans Foundation, articulated that Sur Sangam serves as a platform for children to express themselves and aspire for greater futures, beyond their current circumstances.
