Regional AI Impact Conference kicked off on a high note
Union government has committed Rs 10,300 crore for AI development

REGIONAL, December 03, 2025: The Regional AI Impact Conference in Shillong was inaugurated Wednesday by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. The conference was virtually attended by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Electronics & Information Technology as well as various stakeholders from industry and the academia.
In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted Meghalaya's advancements in digital governance and AI, specifically mentioning the state's role in the global S/4 HANA ERP sector, which has the potential to create significant business and job opportunities. He also mentioned successful initiatives such as tracking pregnant women to reduce maternal mortality and using AI to map water springs.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the union government's commitment to democratising technology with an investment of Rs 10,300 crore for AI development and reiterated the themes of People, Planet, and Progress.
