AI will be introduced in all schools from Class / Grade 3

Move will reinforce the concept of learning, thinking and teaching

NATIONAL, October 30, 2025: The union government Thursday announced that a curriculum on Artificial Intelligence will be introduced in all schools from Class 3 onwards marking a significant step towards the ethical use of AI to solve complex challenges. The curriculum will be organically embedded from the foundational stage beginning in Grade 3.

The initiative will reinforce the concept of learning, thinking and teaching, gradually expanding towards AI for Public Good. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has constituted an expert committee chaired by IIT Madras Professor Karthik Raman to develop the curriculum.

A stakeholder consultation was held in New Delhi with Secretary of Department of School Education and Literacy Sanjay Kumar underlining the importance of AI education as a basic universal skill.
